Listening to*Following the Thread* Internet Radio is very simple.
Note: You can listen to Internet Radio with Windows Media Player in the "background" while you continue to work on your PC. You can surf the web, word process, check email or run other applications while you listen. You can even Quilt or do Needlework! *VBG*

On the hardware side, you need a computer and an internet connection (which we assume you have since you are reading this), speakers and a soundcard. (If your computer beeps at you or tells you that *You have Mail!* you have an operating sound card!)

You also need some software called the Windows Media Player (PC or Mac). It is FREE and you can get it by clicking HERE.

*Following the Thread* Internet Radio uses streaming technology, which means you don't need to download the whole file before you start listening, you can listen live across your internet connection. (You need to have at least a 28K modem, but you probably do). It also means that the file won't stay on your system and take up valuable space.

Once you have downloaded the Windows Media Player and installed it on your system (a straightforward process), you can listen to *Following the Thread* Internet Radio. On each page with a Show or announcement, there will be a graphic of a Radio Player. (See graphic below)

On each Show page, links to other websites are set to open new windows so that you surf and listen OR listen and visit the fttRadio.com Discussion Forum! If you want to listen ad explore the rest of fttRadio.com, we suggest you open a new window and explore from there. To open a new window, go to FILE in the upper left corner of your window. Click on FILE, then NEW, then WINDOW...or with some versions of Windows, you can simply click on the CONTROL and N keys on your keyboard.

As long as the window with the Player you are using remains open, you'll be able to listen to the Broadcast.

Make sure your speakers are turned on and set to the middle of their volume range.

Depending on your Operating System, you player may look slightly different but the components should be familiar.

By clicking on each of the buttons you will be able to control the broadcast.
(See labels for what each button does)

You control the volume.
You can pause the broadcast.
You can start it.
You can stop it.

If you want to Fast Forward or Reverse, use the Green and Silver slider above the Play Button.

You can adjust the volume, as well.

**********************************************************
Please note that to start with, we have *Following the Thread* Internet Radio set for a specific, reasonable number of listeners at any given time. This is so that we don't swamp the system until we can evaluate how popular the Radio Station will be. If you can't get a connection, just wait a few minutes and then try again. We will be continually adjusting these settings over the first few months. Please be patient! ;-)
**********************************************************
For an Invitation to *Following the Thread* Internet Radio, use the player below!

To Start the recording, click on the Triangle (Play Button) to the left.
Use Slider to far right to adjust volume.
To get your FREE Windows Media Player (PC or Mac) click HERE

NOTE: If you can't even SEE the Player, adjust your security setting to allow *Active X* (Try restoring the Medium Security Default under Internet Options in Internet Explorer)

Your ability to control the program will depend on what version of the Player you are using. We recommend using the most up-to-date version for the most versatility. *Fast Forward* is one of the options which may be affected. To keep the Program running in the background, open a NEW window, and use the NEW window as your Active window.
